Whats so great about google plus
Shortly after googleplus.com revealed, Engadget got a tip from someone who delved deep into your source code and found references to something called verbal Games Google. One of our informants have dug a little more and managed to find more of them.
Google plussource code, Yvo Schaap – who also discovered an embeddable button before being released – in fact, found a link to the Google Games logo (shown above).
You may remember another tipster found the logo for the Google of music before his debut at some point too, although that only took a simple tweak URL.
Besides the logo, Schaap also found references to API endpoints as “/ _ / games / getGameFriends”, “/ _ / games / getActivities” and perhaps more interesting, “/ _ / games / postToStream”, pointing to a feature service social games.
Of course, the real existence of a gaming service Google-branded social, that is yet to be released, much less advertised, should not be too much of a surprise.
As we revealed a year ago, Google plus for business quietly invested $ 100 million or more in social gaming giant Zynga. They acquired Slide, which also develops social games, and its investment arm Google Ventures supported gaming companies such as ngmoco, and Kabam SCVNGR.
At one point, they still recruited gaming industry vet Mark DeLoura (formerly of Ubisoft, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Nintendo and others) as attorney for the game developer-related products, although he left after only four months in office (he is now a VP THQ).
And according to one spot to light recently, Google is looking for a Product Manager to “grow your new business! – Games on Google.”
Google is aware that any platform game focused on consumer needs to thrive, looking at the success of Android, are not simply observing the rapid rise of facebook google plus, and it makes sense for their social network + Google service to incorporate games in this regard .
In fact, the edge of the Google mobile app distribution in space and spectacular growth of Android Games Google should do – in whatever form it takes shape – even more interesting.
Inside Social Games As noted, when the first Google references to the Games were discovered, we must consider the fact that Google SVP Vic Gundotra used to oversee the company’s strategy of mobile applications before co-heading Google’s social efforts.
What Google platform social games may seem – and how it is positioned and whether he will be able to adequately compete with Facebook and other online gaming platforms – is an unknown for the moment, although I have a feeling that will not take that much longer for Google to start talking more about his upcoming foray into the gaming industry.
